TOWARD A DEEPER LOVE

From the April 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

No material sense of things could separate the Apostle Paul from the sweet presence of God, divine Love, and the consciousness of this presence helped him to express an ever deeper love for mankind. He said (Rom. 8:38, 39), "Neither death, nor life, . . . nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Can each one of us come to understand our relationship to divine Love and realize something of its presence, power, capacity, universalitiy, inspiration, and purpose as did St. Paul? Yes, and when we do, we have something precious to share with our neighbor as did this citizen from Tarsus.

Christian Science teaches that man is the exact image of God, divine Love. In demonstration of this truth, each of us acts as an individualized expression of infinite Love, manifesting its grace, beauty, strength, order, joy, love, and wisdom. Jesus demonstrated these spiritual qualities and showed that the basis of their demonstration lay in man's oneness with Love as its idea. He said (John 10:30), "I and my Father are one."
