A Prayer for Gratitude

From the April 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Father, may I be grateful and still sing
And still rejoice when earthly hopes depart,
Knowing that Thy unfailing love will bring
Healing and peace to every burdened heart.

Above the mists of doubt and thoughts of fear,
Thy loving hand upholds and sets me free;
May I be grateful for Thy presence here,
True joy revealing, perfect harmony.

I would forget the trivial things behind,
Surrender human will and selfish pride;
Thy boundless love encircling all mankind
Is here today to shelter and provide.

Let me be grateful, God, each hour, each day,
For warfare glorious, victories surely won;
Then, as I walk with joy the Master's way,
I shall go forward, led by Thee alone.
