CHURCH DEDICATION THROUGH ACTIVE SERVICE

From the April 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Church" is defined in part by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as, "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle" (p. 583). Every member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, knows that he must do his part in demonstrating "the structure of Truth and Love" as his Church. As he persistently strives to understand and to manifest that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5), he finds it possible to forsake error and thus demonstrate the healing of divine Science.

When Christian Scientists gain the understanding that Church is spiritual, they rejoice in demonstrating within their human organization the government of God, divine Mind, Love, by working together harmoniously, striving to see and to exemplify the man of God's creating.

In the proportion that each one reflects in ever greater degree the qualities and attributes of God, he becomes a clearer transparency for Truth and Love. We know that the healing of mankind, individually and universally, can come only through spiritualization of thought. Our efforts in this direction increase our worth to our church and enable us to replace the false beliefs about church problems with the truth regarding God, Church, and man.
