In our daily activities, including the discharge of responsibilities, a process is usually involved by which something is produced or some situation is arrived at, enabling us to say, "Now that is finished. " This "now" of human individual completion or accomplishment is the result of having started and finished something.
Christian Science is the gospel of divine sonship. It reveals the oneness, goodness, perfection, and infinity of God, Spirit, Mind, and proves that man in the divine likeness cannot be other than spiritual or less than perfect.
In human experience there may come a time when we find ourselves at a crossroads and faced with the necessity of making a profound decision. We seem to have missed the way to a satisfying understanding of life's meaning and purpose.
The first vision of Christian Science that comes to one is often a great revealing and uplifting experience. Christian Science comes into one's life bringing "beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
The task of reaching the goal in our Sunday school work may be likened to that of a sea captain who steers his ship safely into port. He knows his destination and the direction he must take.
Jesus prayed, "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven," and Christian Science is bringing this prayer to fulfillment. The expression "in earth" gives us assurance that Christian Science, founded as it is on the Christ, Truth, is concerned with the solution of common daily problems.
The Christian Scientist is increasingly enabled to meet his problems by gaining an entirely fresh concept of that wonderful experience called spiritual growth. Such growth, in Christian Science, is given new impetus, new direction.
Human beings would do well to give more thought to the subject of attraction. One might begin by asking oneself, What seems to me attractive—the worldly and sensuous, or the spiritual, good, and eternal? Our actions are the result of our responding to some attraction.
Throughout Biblical history the character and customs of a shepherd, in his picturesque setting of pastoral life, have furnished imagery for inspirational song and sermon, such as are found in the book of Psalms. These uplifting messages have many times brought to one bowed with a sense of sorrow and despair cheer and renewed courage, a sense of God's nearness, and the assurance of His comforting care.
The answer to the question, "What constitutes victory or defeat?" is found in the teachings of Christian Science, which reverses every material concept of existence, of the universe, and of God and man. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs.
