Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THERE IS NO HURRY

Recently there have been appearing in the Pacific Northwest, along the highways, large signboards bearing the inscription, "Honestly now, what's your hurry?" How many are prepared to answer that question satisfactorily? Has it not become habitual with some persons to rush from place to place, to crowd the hours with any sort of activity, and yet to complain, "I don't know where the time goes"? It would seem sensible to take an inventory of one's thoughts to determine what the trouble is, and to correct it. Modern inventions through which business may be quickly transacted with the help of rapid transportation have their rightful utility.

IMPERISHABLE STRENGTH

In these strenuous times and rapidly progressive days, more and more emphasis is placed upon the necessity of keeping physically fit if one would succeed in any line of endeavor. Whether in the business world, in the recreational field, or in social contacts—in fact, in any and every manner of human endeavor— ability and the strength to carry on are deemed of great importance.

TIME AND PRACTICE

In various forms of human endeavor we find the association of time and practice, as being equally necessary concomitants for attaining desirable results. In fact, a common attitude toward the achievement of success is often expressed by these well-known phrases: "Give them time," and, "Practice makes perfect.

GOD'S WILL TO MEN

The following are some of the dictionary definitions of the word "will": "wish or desire; .

THERE IS NO LINE OF RETREAT

Fridtjof Nansen , the famous polar explorer, had to overcome great opposition to his voyages of discovery. He departed from professional axioms, for he did not keep to the coast for the purpose of having a line of retreat.

HOPE

An ancient legend represents the mythical Pandora as possessing a box filled with every form of human ill. When it was opened, they spread over the earth.

SIMPLE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE FACTS

Contrary to belief in some quarters, Christian Science is simple both in statement and in practice. The words of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, make this point clear in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she has written ( Pref.

"BE FRUITFUL, AND MULTIPLY"

" Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it. " What a stirring call rings out in this glorious mandate of divine Mind, rousing the student of Christian Science to rise to his true, spiritual activity! It awakens thought from the indulgence of apathy, indifference, or resistance to Truth, to the realization of the cloudless joy and dominion experienced through spiritual thinking.

CHURCH AND ORGANIZATION

What may be regarded as an allusion to the underlying idea of Church is found in Genesis 28:12, 17 , in the account of Jacob's experience at Bethel, when he dreamed of a ladder which reached from earth to heaven, on which the angels of God ascended and descended, and received the assurance of God's presence with him "in all places whither thou goest. " And Jacob said, "This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

"THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH"

In the hush of humility the Psalmist once prayed, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. " A simple prayer, offered by a shepherd lad of long ago, perhaps in the silent pastures of ancient Israel; but how compelling its significance! There is no task confronting students of Christian Science today more vividly imperative than that of echoing the spirit of David's prayer, and then working heartily to convert right desire into action.
