Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THE HEALING WORD

WHEN Jesus met and overcame the three temptations spoken of in the fourth chapter of Matthew, he established the basis for healing all the ills of mortal belief. He met the first temptation with the Scriptural declaration, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

BUILDING ON THE ROCK OR SAND?

" THE supremacy of Spirit was the foundation on which Jesus built" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 138 ).

"THE SIMPLE TEACHING AND LIFE OF JESUS"

SOME years ago at the close of a school term an English boy was presented by the headmaster with a book entitled, "From Log Cabin to White House. " The book was a biographical sketch of the life of Abraham Lincoln.

"THE DIVINE STANDARD OF PERFECTION"

HAVING gained some spiritual understanding of man's eternal oneness with God, the student of Christian Science turns unreservedly to Him for help in all emergencies. He looks away from the mortal evidence of pain, poverty, crime, accident, destruction, contagion, or death to the truth of being, and sees fulfilled the promise found in the book of Isaiah, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT IN BRANCH CHURCHES

IN the world today, democracy is on trial. There are many problems to be solved, and those with vision are turning to God as the only source for the right solution.

GRATITUDE LIGHTENS THE PATHWAY TO HEAVEN

QUITE aptly can it be said of those who have embraced Christian Science wholeheartedly, "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. " The inspired writings of Mary Baker Eddy are bringing to light the spiritual and life-giving meaning of the Bible, so that today many are exclaiming with the apostle, "Our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit.

BUSINESS IS GOOD

THE question, "How is business?" is heard on every hand. Through universal consent, the peace and prosperity of mankind in general seem largely to depend on the answer.

THE GREAT GIVER

MEN speak of the art of giving, but the Science of giving alone teaches how and when to give, and, most important of all, the source whence all true giving emanates. The impulse to give love and gratitude, compassion and forbearance, in the service of mankind or in devotion to an individual, has been the inspiration of many a human sacrifice; but, circumscribed within the limits of personal endeavor, it has been handicapped both in its purpose and in its accomplishment.

CLAIMING THE CHRIST-CONSCIOUSNESS

WHAT a privilege was theirs who walked with Christ Jesus as he went about Palestine healing the sick, expounding the Scriptures in the synagogues, teaching the little group of disciples, and preaching to the multitudes on the mountainside and seashore! What an inspiration to have heard his "Be not afraid, only believe," comforting the parent whose daughter was reported to be dead: his "Neither do I condemn thee," reassuring the accused woman who had been engulfed in sin; his "Be thou clean," as he touched the leper. What a privilege to have heard him bid the impotent one at the pool, "Rise"; and to have stood with him at the grave of Lazarus as he prayed.

MAN'S REAL IDENTITY

THE word "identity" is derived from the Latin idem, meaning "the same," that is, having complete similarity. It means "selfsameness" and the continuity or persistence of individuality.
