Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

HOPE

An ancient legend represents the mythical Pandora as possessing a box filled with every form of human ill. When it was opened, they spread over the earth.

SIMPLE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE FACTS

Contrary to belief in some quarters, Christian Science is simple both in statement and in practice. The words of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, make this point clear in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she has written ( Pref.

"BE FRUITFUL, AND MULTIPLY"

" Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it. " What a stirring call rings out in this glorious mandate of divine Mind, rousing the student of Christian Science to rise to his true, spiritual activity! It awakens thought from the indulgence of apathy, indifference, or resistance to Truth, to the realization of the cloudless joy and dominion experienced through spiritual thinking.

CHURCH AND ORGANIZATION

What may be regarded as an allusion to the underlying idea of Church is found in Genesis 28:12, 17 , in the account of Jacob's experience at Bethel, when he dreamed of a ladder which reached from earth to heaven, on which the angels of God ascended and descended, and received the assurance of God's presence with him "in all places whither thou goest. " And Jacob said, "This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

"THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH"

In the hush of humility the Psalmist once prayed, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. " A simple prayer, offered by a shepherd lad of long ago, perhaps in the silent pastures of ancient Israel; but how compelling its significance! There is no task confronting students of Christian Science today more vividly imperative than that of echoing the spirit of David's prayer, and then working heartily to convert right desire into action.

TRUE VALUES

" Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. " What a thought-arresting statement! When we contemplate this statement of the Master in connection with our own experience, we must admit that we give our thought, and time, and money to whatever we consider valuable.

A LESSON IN SPIRITUAL ADDITION

In his second epistle, Peter, who calls himself "a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ," gives a lesson in the addition of spiritual qualities which is good to contemplate and to practice. The writer begins by telling us that in all our adding of these qualities we are to use diligence.

GOD'S GOVERNMENT OF MAN

Never , probably, since the discovery of Christian Science, has the world been in such turmoil as it is today, with "men's hearts failing them for fear. " They are thus troubled because they see war and hear of rumors of war, barbarous attacks on women and children from the air, poverty and unemployment, and the ruthless persecution of individuals by arbitrary rulers, regardless of justice or mercy.

THE CANON OF THE OLD TESTAMENT

This discussion of what is commonly called the Canon of the Old Testament may well be prefaced by a brief reference to the precise meaning of the word "Canon" as used in this connection. The term derives from the Greek "kanon," which meant literally "a ruler or measuring stick," and so, metaphorically, "a rule, standard, or norm.

A PERFECT MASTERY

In all the world's experience there is but one example of a complete and perfect mastery over all human conditions. Jesus of Nazareth was the perfect Lord and Master.
