EXPERIENCE is a very necessary asset in the practice of Christian Science. This does not imply that only those who experience various difficult phases of mortal existence can benefit by the healing Christ which Christian Science has made practical and possible.

ONE of the darkest shadows cast by the ignorance of mortal mind comes from the belief that the laws of God are punitive, causing pain and suffering. This false concept of God as a God of wrath, capable at times of injustice and cruelty, punishing or rewarding according to the will of an ''inscrutable Providence," has filled the minds of men with great fear of God and His laws.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is defined by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy ( Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1 ), as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony.

IT seems as if the various claims of materialism are today using radio, billboards, movies, magazines, and books, as well as silent mental suggestions, to induce youth to believe that there is something attractive, beneficial, refreshing, and interesting in that which mortal mind has to offer, from the use of tobacco to the indulgence of certain vices. All this is but the old, old illusion or lie of "the serpent," mortal mind, trying to make evil, matter, materialism, appear to be good and real, and essential to man's well-being, happiness, and satisfaction.

Hebrew prophecy is one of the most interesting and important aspects of the religious experience of the children of Israel, and in considering it, one may well recall that the work and influence of the prophets began at a very early period in the nation's development. Indeed, the Apostle Peter reminds us that God "hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began" ( Acts 3:21 ).

The Christian Science Reading Room is one of the many essential activities of the Christian Science movement. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was divinely directed to protect her revelation of Christian Science against the danger of adulteration.

When we first become interested in Christian Science, we are sometimes surprised to discover that our textbook, like other textbooks, requires persistent, precise, methodical study, and that results are obtained only by consistent, accurate, and thorough application of the divine Principle which it elucidates. To be sure, a very little child gifted with loving insight may apply the Principle of Christian Science simply and successfully, because the child thought is clear, true, and obedient.

Fidelity to an exalted spiritual purpose speeds our progress on the highway to achievement. Devout consecration, inspiration, and unwavering devotion of thought and endeavor to a legitimate undertaking, make possible its successful completion.
