Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THE CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST ON THE CAMPUS

THE Christian Scientist commencing college life appears to be confronted with an environment in striking contrast with home conditions. How is he going to find the right mental attitude in this new phase of his development? In order to receive a satisfying answer to this question, it is necessary to be clear about the fundamental facts of Christian Science.

REJECTING SUGGESTIONS

EXPRESSING LOVE IN HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

THE desire to maintain harmonious relations with others is practically universal; yet individuals often seem engulfed in discord and dissension. We sometimes yearn for a sudden amelioration of discordant conditions, forgetting that they manifest the erring beliefs in a material selfhood.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LITERATURE AND THE HUMAN NEED

BEFORE the days of recorded literature, imaginatively gifted people devised and recited fictional tales and adventures to satisfy the human craving for refuge from the dullness and hazards of human experience. Today the printing press facilitates the production of ephemeral literature, similarly inspired to afford a temporary distraction by creating an imaginary world remote from the reader's daily life.

PRAYER AND TREATMENT

PRAYER in Christian Science and what is known to its followers as treatment are identical. Ordinarily, the prayer of Christians admits the human needs and requests God to supply them, if it is His will to do so.

BALANCING OUR ACCOUNT WITH GOD

ONE of the darkest shadows cast by the ignorance of mortal mind comes from the belief that the laws of God are punitive, causing pain and suffering. This false concept of God as a God of wrath, capable at times of injustice and cruelty, punishing or rewarding according to the will of an ''inscrutable Providence," has filled the minds of men with great fear of God and His laws.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE, THE LAW OF GOD

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is defined by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy ( Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1 ), as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony.

"THE HOPE OF OUR RACE"

IT seems as if the various claims of materialism are today using radio, billboards, movies, magazines, and books, as well as silent mental suggestions, to induce youth to believe that there is something attractive, beneficial, refreshing, and interesting in that which mortal mind has to offer, from the use of tobacco to the indulgence of certain vices. All this is but the old, old illusion or lie of "the serpent," mortal mind, trying to make evil, matter, materialism, appear to be good and real, and essential to man's well-being, happiness, and satisfaction.
