Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

Reading aloud—with understanding

Most of us have the opportunity to read aloud from the Bible and from Mrs. Eddy's writings in our study and practice of Christian Science.

Giving testimonies: love opens the way

"When am I going to be able to stand up and give a testimony?" The question was directed to a woman who had given an inspiring account of healing at a Wednesday evening service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. The testifier looked at the other woman with great compassion, and without a trace of self-righteousness or superiority replied, "When you love enough!" It is love and gratitude that lift us from the pew to share with the congregation the blessings we've received.

"Who wants to be mortal . . .?"

The belief that man lives as a mortal now and that not until sometime in what is called the hereafter will he be immortal is so untrue that individuals should be alert to challenge and correct this falsity in every aspect of their lives. Dictionaries define the word mortal as "subject to death.

Spiritual facts, spiritual healing

Getting the facts straight about any situation is important. To a child at bedtime who is afraid of the dark, it can mean the difference between going to sleep in peace or fear.

Don't Force Your Treatment

A Christian Science treatment, when properly given, is the most potent therapeutic agent ever discovered. Through spiritual understanding and the focus of right ideas the omnipotence of divine Mind is brought to bear on human discord.

Spiritual causation, radiation, and mankind's blessing

"There is but one primal cause," states Mrs. Eddy in the Christian Science textbook,  Science and Health.

Are you willing to stand for Christ?

"Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. " These words of Peter's, affirming his unwavering loyalty to Christ Jesus, were spoken the night of the last supper.

Keeping our promise

When joining The Mother Church, each applicant signifies that he subscribes to the Tenets and Rules of the Church, as set down by Mrs. Eddy.

The importance of prayer

What could be more fundamental to the life of a Christian than prayer? Yet I've often found myself challenged by the question: "Just how do we pray?" Since childhood I've been familiar with the Lord's Prayer given in Christ Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, and the spiritual sense and effectiveness of this prayer have blessed my life over and over again. Yet the Gospels also report that Jesus often spent much time in prayer, even all night, and the Gospel of John illustrates that his prayers were certainly not limited to repetition of the words of the Lord's Prayer.

Individual fidelity to Truth reaches humanity

With the challenges going on around the world—hunger, regional wars, hostage crises, crime, the threat of nuclear war—one might believe that there is nothing an individual can do to help. How can I help to bring peace to the world? How can I help to avoid hostage crises? How can I reduce crime in my city? All these questions point to a caring heart that is receptive to a better way of solving our human problems.
