How many times have we called on a Christian Science practitioner to help us with a problem and then sat back and waited for our healing? True, the healing often comes when we are receptive and expectant of it, but unless we do our part in the prayerful work involved, we may be missing something. The spiritual progress resulting from this work is what we really should be seeking.
How can we be more free of the damaging propensities we so often see in ourselves and others: personal domination and tyranny, deceit and hatred, feelings of inadequacy and fear? By turning to God, Spirit, who is all-powerful, infinite good, the only creator. By reasoning that man and the universe must be spiritual and perfect, governed by God's law of harmonious action.
It can be helpful for the student of Christian Science to examine himself from time to time to see how he is progressing spiritually. Progress in Christian Science is not measured by the number of years one has been a student of this Science.
A mediocre, poorly patronized restaurant, closed many weeks for alterations, finally reopened, resplendent with fresh paint, new furniture and fixtures, and an attractive outdoor sign.
