God, the one Mind, has total dominion over all His ideas in the one real universe, the spiritual. Man's dominion is Mind's gift to him as its reflection. This dominion, humanly seen, consists of our ability to keep thought in harmony with this one Mind. We have this ability because our real consciousness reflects all that Mind knows and nothing else. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes: "Man and his Maker are correlated in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God." The Science of Christ teaches that our human consciousness is a mixture of thoughts from Mind and thoughts completely unlike Mind. The thoughts of evil and matter supposedly come from an opposite, so-called mind. But we have dominion over the false concepts of this seeming mind because the thoughts from our real Mind are the only real thoughts. Because of the actual nothingness of material beliefs and the allness of spiritual ideas, we have dominion over what is unreal Through Christian Science we learn how to take charge of our thinking and base it on the reality of God's knowing. The result is that we gain control over ourselves and our experience and, more and more, find harmony.
The false concepts of the unreal mind portray a physical world and physical man. From the premise of the reality of this world, this mind derives its material sense of things. It concludes that all that exists is material, and mortals are supposed to be helpless before its assertion of the irrefutable evidence of material reality.
