Apprehending More

From the November 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Do we long to apprehend more of Truth? Does our study seem to lack the vitality and fruition that it had when we were new to Christian Science? Do we find it difficult to remember what we have learned? Are we yearning to be better healers and help solve the problems of contemporary living?

We find these words of Mrs. Eddy's under the marginal heading "Need and supply": "In order to apprehend more, we must put into practice what we already know. We must recollect that Truth is demonstrable when understood, and that good is not understood until demonstrated. If 'faithful over a few things,' we shall be made rulers over many; but the one unused talent decays and is lost." Science and Health, p.323;

To follow this counsel effectively, however, it is essential to deal with the negative suggestions of animal magnetism, or the belief in a power apart from God, that would oppose, obstruct, or block our spiritual progress.
