With increasing frequency workers at headquarters and Scientists active in the Field are asking themselves the questions: "Is it basically conditions, persons, a world 'out there' that need changing, or is it a concept that needs spiritualizing? Should our prayers and concerns be more universal?" A Mother Church member living in the eastern United States got answers to questions like these when struggling with an attack of influenza. While praying to know what more he needed to do, he picked up a copy of the Monitor , read about a civil war in Africa, and then turned his thought to what was truly happening in God's universe.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Perhaps no question more frequently assails the prospective Sunday School teacher than this: How can I best prepare myself to be ready for any problem that arises in the class, to have a satisfying and scientific answer to any question, and to be so richly supplied with truth that I can teach my pupils as they deserve to be taught? There is of course no single all-inclusive answer that will aid everyone asked to teach a Sunday School class in a Church of Christ, Scientist. But the Sunday School teacher demonstrates the essence of good teaching when he realizes that his pupils are the intelligent ideas of divine Mind.

A young man had completed Sunday School but had not gone on to church membership. After a while he felt that there was something lacking in his life.

From the Directors: How Mrs. Eddy's trust is managed

The November issue gave some information about the publishing of Mrs. Eddy's writings, including reasons for the recent transfer of this activity from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy to The Christian Science Board of Directors.

It would appear sometimes that this task—or the prospect of it—alarms more potential Sunday School teachers than it attracts. But what a pity that it should do so! To teach Christian Science to the child of two, three, or four years of age can be one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences in the teacher's life.

It came as no surprise to learn that the society in Texas that sent in the following report has just recently become a church. The members' progressive thinking is clearly evident in the way they are teaching their young people to heal, are including parents in the Sunday School's concept of spiritual education, and are encouraging pupils to participate in church activities.

The New Sunday School Teacher

You've been asked to teach a Sunday School class of young people in your branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and you've had little or no teaching experience. Perhaps you feel out of touch with young people.

On a Saturday morning a small van pulls up to the curb in a busy shopping center. The side doors slide open, and two church members begin off-loading a fold-up table and stacks of pamphlets, books, and magazines.
