One aspect of a branch church that's sometimes overlooked is the role it has as a "home away from home" for travelers. St.

It has a nice ring to it, that phrase "The Monitor is a missionary. " But the implications go deeper than harmonious sounds right to the core of Christian thought and life.

The Board of Lectureship often receives questions about lecture scheduling. Here are their responses to some of the most frequent queries: Question : What happens to a lecture application? Is it processed by computers or by people? How are lectures scheduled? Answer : Individual members of the Board of Lectureship receive branch church applications and set up their own itineraries.

Children often have clear and uncomplicated responses to questions that adults find difficult to answer simply. We were cheered by the direct answers a 6th-grade Sunday School class gave to their teacher's question, "What does Christian Science mean to you?": • "I love knowing that God is right where I am, ready to help me.

The hunger to learn and to keep on learning makes a Christian Science Sunday School class irresistible. And when pupils and teachers share this hunger, spiritual education takes place.

From time to time letters that branch church committees and boards have sent to their memberships are submitted to Church in Action. Some carry reports and information of a practical nature.

It is Sunday morning and Sunday School begins. Those of us who are teachers watch the little children's fidgeting feet, their Hymnals held askew (or dropped), their big eyes studying the late arrivers or the squeaking pedal of the piano.

A report from the 1900 Annual Meeting, printed in that year's July Journal , noted: "By request of our Leader, Rev. Mrs.

Those who are involved in the publication of The Christian Science Monitor are as mindful as other business or professional people that they must work hard to get the news, to sell advertising, to process subscriptions, and to increase circulation. Like other professionals, Monitor workers are basically concerned with making their newspaper the best possible and getting it to the public.
