In her book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes ( pp. 502, 503 ): "The universe reflects God.
When Christ Jesus cured the ten lepers who had cried out to him for help, one of them turned back, we are told ( Luke 17:15 ), "and with a loud voice glorified God. " Whereupon the Master exclaimed: "Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
A Standpoint is a fixed position, either mental or physical, from which one may view concepts or scenes. Christian Science furnishes a spiritually mental standpoint, new to the world, from which one may view all creation in its true light—as spiritual and perfect because the outcome of perfect God, or Spirit.
Much study and research have been given by men and governments to the means of establishing a balanced economy, of maintaining a state of society in which there will be neither inflation, nor recession, nor depression, nor want, but peace and prosperity. In these days much is being said in some nations of the need for combating inflation, which is supposedly the process of rising prices attributed generally to the fact that there is too much money available but not enough goods with which to supply all that the public needs at reasonable prices.
In the New Testament one finds many allusions to the Holy Ghost, the divine Spirit. This implies a development of spirituality which came to human thought with the life and teachings of Christ Jesus.
" I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do" ( John 17:4 ). In these words Christ Jesus prayed to his Father-Mother God just prior to his betrayal.
One of the outstanding economists of the world states in a current issue of a well-known magazine that in his estimation a critical need of today is education in citizenship. And he adds that moral education, as well as the acquisition of knowledge, is important.
WHILE in the interest of preserving world peace it may seem imperative at this stage of progress for a nation to maintain strength which equally balances that of certain other world powers, the time will ultimately come when only one power, God, divine Mind, must be acknowledged as supreme over all. The power of God, Christian Science makes clear, is indivisible.
WHETHER the world is ready to admit it or not, the twentieth century is witnessing to the gradual disappearance of matter. The material limitations that have held men relentlessly in subjection to conditions of space and time and lack of power are being broken down.
TO every student of Christian Science the season of the Annual Meeting may well be a period in which to measure prayerfully his love and gratitude for our great Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who brought to mankind the pure Science of Christianity, the light of Christ, Truth, "which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" ( John 1:9 ).
