Infinity is a term that the finite, human mind finds difficult to grasp. And yet, infinity is the measure of all things real.
In the book of Psalms ( 122:1 ) we read, "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. " For centuries Christians have found comfort and refreshment from assembling to hear the Word of God read and expounded by preachers, from joining in prayer to the Almighty, and from singing hymns of thanksgiving for His goodness.
Good bylaws in branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, while they concern human action, have their basis in divine law, which has been revealed to mankind through ages of spiritual progress. The bylaws governing a branch church are adopted by a required majority or plurality vote of the membership and, according to the democratic process, should be obeyed.
" Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?" queried the Psalmist ( Ps. 139:7 ).
On that glorious resurrection morn when Christ Jesus had proved the power of Life over death, Mary Magdalene came with others to the tomb and found the stone rolled away. As they looked for the body of Jesus and found it not, two men in shining garments said to them ( Luke 24:5 ), "Why seek ye the living among the dead?" In another gospel it is reported that Mary stood without the sepulcher, weeping.
The essence of man's true being is Spirit, God. God formed man of His own perfect substance and declared what He formed to be good.
Christian Science reveals a wealth of spiritual ideas, and students of this Science do well to consider the infinite vitality of every idea that springs from God, divine Mind. A cursory statement of spiritual ideas does not demonstrate the vitality inherent in them.
In Christian theology, the Trinity has generally been regarded as the union of three persons in one Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Christian Science presents God not as a corporeal form, but as the one infinite Person, the one infinite Mind or Spirit, hence infinite individuality.
Those calling themselves atheists should ask themselves how they would like to live in a world in which there had never been any Christianity whatever. Many persons avow atheism who behave decently, obey the laws of their lands, and are honest and loving.
Were relationships between nations dependent solely upon a balance of material power, there would always be an anticipation of danger—an uncertain state shrouded in fear of national safety. But it is evident that there are moral and spiritual forces operating which, when utilized, encourage friendly relationships among nations.
