Testimonies of Healing
I should like to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. It was brought to my notice eleven years ago, at which time I was a physical and mental wreck.
About twelve years ago a young couple residing in my home suffered severely, owing to the wife's illness. Physicians considered the condition very serious and, on account of her extreme weakness, were unable to send her to a sanatorium.
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Christian Science was first brought to me by a very dear friend.
It is with heartfelt love and gratitude to God for His "wonderful works to the children of men" and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for having given the wonderful light of Truth to a sin-darkened world, that I pen these lines of testimony to the healing power of Christian Science. In November, 1919, while working at a steam hammer, a pair of tongs was forcibly thrown between the dies, striking me and penetrating the left groin, inflicting a very serious injury.
" To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings. " Thus Mrs.
In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks" (Science and Health, p.
As I was rereading the New Testament, I came across this beautiful verse in Matthew, "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you," and I thought with gratitude what the practice of that verse had meant to me. Years ago I thought I had an enemy, and at that time it was a great temptation to me to talk the person over with my friends and expose the errors of his way.
I had a fall about two years and a half ago which injured my knee. Four different doctors examined it and pronounced the trouble to be water on the knee, which had become chronic.
On page 404 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says, "Hatred, envy, dishonesty, fear, and so forth, make a man sick, and neither material medicine nor Mind can help him permanently, even in body, unless it makes him better mentally, and so delivers him from his destroyers.
It is sixteen years since I have availed myself of the privilege of expressing gratitude for Christian Science through our periodicals, and it is an overflowing heart which prompts me again to seek this privilege. At the time Christian Science found me I was wretched in mind and body, condemned by materia medica to die, rebellious, filled with an agony of fear, despairing, trying to pray to a God who I felt could not or would not hear or help me, trying to love a God who seemed not to care for His creation.
