Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science has been a source of great joy to me and I wish to share with others some of the benefits received therefrom. In the winter of 1919 I was ill with what the doctor called influenza.
To me the most wonderful thing in the world is the proving of God's presence and power. Each proof brings a sense of sudden joy almost like a glad surprise, because it is so different from anything life seemed to offer before I learned of Christian Science.
I wish to bear thankful testimony to a growing realization of God's unfailing love and tender care, as each day I study and try to make practical the teachings of the Bible through the interpretation given them by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
My attention was first seriously directed toward Christian Science about ten years ago. I was at that time publishing a weekly newspaper, in the Middle West, and in one of its issues made what appeared to be a slighting allusion, in a supposedly humorous way, to the tenacity with which Christian Scientists cling to their belief in the truths—as I afterwards found them to be—taught by Mrs.
It is difficult to find words with which to express gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. Christian Science was introduced to me by a friend, whom I first met at a convalescent home, where I had occasion to stay after a Ions? illness.
That God is a very present help in time of trouble was demonstrated one day when I offered to assist a friend in removing a mattress which lay across a table and a chair. It was evidently too heavy for my friend to lift, and fell out of her hands, and the table with the weight of the mattress fell across my instep.
I feel that I must express my gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy for all that Christian Science has done for me.
God , as understood through Christian Science, is becoming to me more real and ever present as my understanding increases. Last year, while in college, I was able to overcome the feeling of homesickness by realizing that God, my Father-Mother, was just as present there as when I was at home.
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give this testimony, hoping that it will lead some one else to a knowledge of the truth. In May, 1918, I was drafted into the army and it was found by the examining doctors that I had lung trouble.
I feel that I must add my testimony to those of others who have been healed by the power of Truth. About two and a half years ago I took up the study of Christian Science earnestly, seeking health and happiness.
