Testimonies of Healing
I feel that I should be ungrateful were I not to testify in a public way to the benefits I have received from Christian Science. I have been a reader of its literature for some years, but never took it seriously till some three years ago, when I was healed in one treatment of a bronchial difficulty from which I used to suffer each winter for several weeks at a time.
IT is with the deepest sense of gratitude that I give this testimony. In 1892 I was taken very ill, and was confined to my bed for ten months, having many physicians, and every kind of medicine known to the profession, with but very little betterment.
I have long felt a desire to testify to the great good I have received from Christian Science. In January, 1904, I was taken seriously ill.
I would like to tell of my healing, with the deepest gratitude for the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. In November, 1907.
I am very grateful that I have found Christian Science. One Wednesday morning I awoke to find myself entirely helpless.
From infancy I was always ailing, being supposed to have inherited throat and lung disease. I earned my own living from the age of seventeen, but often lost my positions through sickness, as once or twice every year I was laid up with serious attacks of illness.
During the four years that I have been in Christian Science I have received many benefits, and it is with the deepest gratitude that I write this testimony. I was healed of an organic disease of many years' standing, and for which I had undergone a severe surgical operation.
Twenty-six years ago I was taken with a severe abdominal trouble, which in the course of time developed into a bowel complaint. It was said that an operation alone could free me of this disease, and I submitted to this torture three times at intervals of five years, and once of only one year.
I see so many good demonstrations in the periodicals that it prompts me to add my mite, as it may help some poor unfortunate who is what I once was. About eight years ago I was rescued by Christian Science from one of the worst habits that ever fastened itself upon a poor human being.
I desire to make acknowledgment, through the Journal, of the healing of our oldest son about two years ago. His father was hoisting dirt from a well by means of a large derrick, and my son was standing near the well when the wire ropes broke, letting the derrick fall.
