Testimonies of Healing
TO those who are halting between two opinions as to the efficacy of spiritual or material remedies for trouble, let me earnestly recommend the study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," wherein they will find the adequate and simple solution of every life-problem,—mental, moral or physical. By way of expressing my gratitude for priceless benefits received through Christian Science, I give the following account of my healing.
A little more than three years ago Christian Science was brought into our home through physical necessity. My wife, who was a delicate woman, was troubled with an abnormal growth as well as hernia.
Sincere gratitude impels me to acknowledge, at least in some measure, the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. In February, two years ago, Christian Science found me in a pitiful condition.
I was healed through Christian Science in September 1908. It was one year since I had first known personally any Christian Science people, and those I had come in contact with made me wish that I could always associate with them.
I feel that I should no longer delay in giving my testimony, and so in a measure express my gratitude to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has through her explanation of the Bible enabled me to realize that God is an ever-present help.
About three years ago my daughter, sixteen years of age, was taken suddenly ill, and as I had always been able to overcome any previous indispositions, I treated her and expected she would be better. Instead, she grew rapidly worse, so I called in a practitioner.
Sincere gratitude impels me to tell others of the good I have received through Christian Science. In 1905 I first heard of this religion which has become so dear to me, and in my case, as it is with some others, fear and doubt were not overcome very easily.
Some months ago, without my knowledge at the time I was exposed to smallpox, and a few days thereafter my professional duties called me to San Francisco. While there my physical condition was far from harmonious, a high fever, etc.
It is with heartfelt gratitude that I give my testimony through the pages which convey such sweet messages of hope to suffering humanity. My first debt to Christian Science was for my own healing, which was a wonderful case of mental surgery.
It has been a cherished wish that an expression of my gratitude for Christian Science might reach many more than those who have been within sound of my voice, although I am deeply sensible that neither tongue nor pen, can adequately express my thankfulness for the benefits received from Science. During my girlhood and the earlier years of my married life I knew nothing of Christian Science as taught by Mrs.
