Testimonies of Healing

It gives me great pleasure to express my thanks for the change which Christian Science has brought into my life. For years it has been my endeavor to overcome a deadened sense within myself.

It seems as though I could never give in the measure given to me, for surely mine has been full to overflowing; but I feel that I can at least make use of every opportunity to send forth the word of Truth, and express my gratitude for the priceless gift of Christian Science. After about ten years of ill health, being part of the time seriously affected, although benefited and relieved at times by materia medica and other methods to which I resorted, still I was not healed — I was still seeking for something to make me well.

In our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," our dear Leader has written these beautiful words: "Whatever blesses one blesses all" (p. 206).

I have long neglected to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. In November, 1905, I was given up by one of the best physicians in Oakland, who told my wife and friends that nothing could be done for me, that I was too weak even to be operated upon.

From early childhood I was a sufferer from what we tried to believe was only a functional disease of the heart. In the years of 1891-2, while I was studying medicine, it was discovered that my sufferings were caused from organic disease of the heart, one of the specialists declaring that I was liable to die at any moment.

IT is with joy. and a sense of obligation to help all who may read these lines, that I give expression to the gratitude and love I feel for Christian Science, — for its Founder.

While I am not a student of Christian Science, I can bear grateful testimony to its healing power. When our little daughter was six months old she was taken very ill with what the physician pronounced an acute attack of spinal disease and a stomach complication.

I had suffered since childhood with severe headache and backache. Each year the suffering increased, and by the time I was twenty-one the headaches had assumed an alarming form.

It is a great joy to be able to tell my experiences since I have understood a little of Christian Science. When it was brought to my notice my baby girl, seven months old, was very ill.

Doubtless there are many who, like myself, owe humble gratitude to Christian Science for its saving power from faults of character. I do not remember the time when I did not "hunger and thirst after righteousness," but only in Christian Science was that hunger and thirst satisfied.
