Testimonies of Healing

It has long been my desire to express the deep gratitude which I feel for Christian Science, for not only did I regain my health thereby, but it has also brought me many other benefits. It is a blessing and a comfort in dark hours to read in the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Christian Science is indeed the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus. It has healed me of several physical complaints, such as chronic headaches, backache, and nervousness; also a disposition to take cold, followed by a severe cough which lasted for months.

As I read the helpful testimonies of others, I feel it a great privilege to add my own experience of the healing power of God as taught in Science and Health. Having been treated by the best physicians in our city with only temporary relief, I was indeed discouraged.

Last fall I had my little girl, aged eight years, treated in Christian Science for a disease which was diagnosed by the doctors as infantile paralysis. The physician had given me little encouragement, and her teacher sent her home, saying t hat she could not do the work required in school because of her condition.

About twelve years ago Christian Science found me a hopeless sufferer, mentally as well as physically. After having been treated by many physicians, I spent the better part of two years in one of the best sanitariums in the state of California, where I tried every remedy known to the doctors and had every attention that human skill could devise.

Hoping that some one may be benefited by reading of my experience in Christian Science, I wish to tell of the blessings it has brought to me. I had suffered for years from a severe pain in my back, and had been constantly under the care of physicians.

I wish to express my gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me. It was the physical and not the spiritual healing that I was seeking.

On July 4, 1905, in passing down some steps, I injured my knee. The following day, I attempted to go to my place of business, but was in such pain that I was compelled to return home, which I accomplished with the aid of crutches.

Having begun my fourth year in Christian Science, it seems to me high time that I should join in the word of joyful testimony as to the immense good this healing and saving truth brings to all who will accept it with humility. I had read one or two numbers of the periodicals with interest; and having been given a copy of the text-book, I began at once, like thousands of others, to derive physical benefit from the study of it.

In the year 1868, as the writing on the flyleaf shows I was presented with a Bible. For forty years the book remained not only unread, but' lost to memory and view alike.
