Testimonies of Healing
Although my parents were Christian Scientists, I had not realized the peace and illumination available through the study of Science, until long after I had married. At the time of our marriage, my wife had only recently become interested in this Science, but she perceived a sweetness and light in it that were and are a revelation to me.
Christian Science has been our physician, guide, and counselor for thirty years. Divine Science has surely been our Comforter.
Last year I was suddenly overcome by a painful, disabling condition in my foot. I did not hesitate a moment in countering, with "No" to this lie about my true being as God's expression.
I spent several years in a Christian Science Sunday School learning to love the Bible and the truths given by Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. I had yet really to apply these truths to my daily life, except in time of physical sickness.
I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School when I was a young teenager. I was convinced of the efficacy of this Science when I consulted a practitioner about finding employment upon graduating from high school during the depression years.
My first exposure to Christian Science came while I was still in high school. I could not accept the teaching at the time.
Early in my study of Christian Science I learned the wisdom of not being impressed with afflictive material conditions. In rearing three children, I found when I refused to focus attention on cuts, bruises, or other difficulties, and declared the truth of man's spiritual identity, healings came quickly.
For a number of years our family has depended on Christian Science for healing. During our forty-one years of married life, I never knew my wife to stay in bed a single day, except when our daughters arrived; and their births occurred naturally, quickly, and happily in our home.
Over the years the study of Christian Science has been my primary source of enrichment, satisfaction, healing, and guidance. The power of God's Word has been particularly helpful to me on many occasions in solving acute problems of human relationships during an active military career.
Over the years Christian Science has given me much to be grateful for. A healing I would like to relate concerns a college education for my daughter.
