Testimonies of Healing

During my teen years I felt a deep unrest, an inner rebellion against the many injustices and afflictions that seemed imposed on humanity. These appeared irreconcilable with the religious premise of a good and loving God.

When I was engaged to be married, my parents were strongly opposed because of my fiance's radically different religious beliefs. What I wanted was a marriage that would be happy, harmonious, and permanent.

When I became pregnant, my desire was to have childbirth without the use of medication. I went to a physician who cooperates with Christian Scientists in such deliveries.

Some years ago, although I considered myself a sincere student of Christian Science, I often felt like a second-string football player who spends much of his time on the bench. I felt lacking that fuller spiritual conviction that leads to the heights of healing and regeneration.

As a teen-ager I had recurring heavy colds with nosebleed. I was quite frightened during these times of difficult breathing.

During my teens I made many mistakes typical of some others of my generation. My mother had begun the study of Christian Science, but I did not join her in this.

When I was a fairly new student of Christian Science, I was employed as an engineer-inspector in a midwestern highway department. In one of the state's larger cities, I was assigned to inspect and supervise the construction of a pedestrian accessway that would be of major convenience to the people.

Ever since I was a child, I have received help and inspiration from the testimonies appearing in the Christian Science periodicals. The assurance of God's great love for mankind that I gained as a child has remained with me and given me trust and understanding to meet many problems, both during my younger days and in rearing a family.
