Testimonies of Healing
It is with joy that I record the happiness, progress, and fulfillment which have come into my experience since I began the study of Christian Science in 1952. At that time I had resigned from one profession, had achieved only mediocre success in a second, and, through lack of capital, was failing in a third.
In my childhood I was surrounded with fear, medical beliefs and laws, domestic misery, suspicion and bitterness, ill health and apprehensions. My young womanhood was colored with much of the same.
I found Christian Science, when I was hungering and thirsting for the truth, through a copy of the Journal which I obtained from a distribution rack located in a railroad station. I had just become a stewardess in the Air Force, traveling over the Atlantic Ocean regularly.
" Willing the sick to recover is not the metaphysical practice of Christian Science, but is sheer animal magnetism. " So states our Leader on page 144 of the Christian Science textbook.
Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in Science and Health on pages 470 and 471, "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history.
Ever since childhood, I had been searching for the truth of God, man, and the universe in which we live. However, often it is only when one is spiritually ready to receive the truth that Christian Science comes to the rescue; this was so in my case.
Sometime ago I experienced a healing of what appeared to be an acute case of bursitis in my right arm. For several weeks there was a slight pain in my right shoulder which seemed persistent in spite of my efforts to handle it as we are taught to do in Christian Science.
I should like to express my gratitude for all the blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science. While participating in athletics several years ago, I suffered a very serious injury to my right leg.
I have been a student of Christian Science for over thirty years. My life during these years bears witness to the healing power of God.
" He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust" ( Ps.
