Testimonies of Healing

My heart is filled with gratitude for Christian Science; it has been my way of life since childhood. My mother and grandmother were earnest students of it, and the truths they taught me as a child have formed a foundation on which to build through the years.

In the Bible we read of Jehoiachin ( II Kings 25:30 ): "And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life. " This verse and the sentence, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," from page 494 of Science and Health by Mrs.

I wish to express my gratitude for a healing in Christian Science which marks one of the milestones in my spiritual progress. It occurred some years after I had an attack, and without warning I began losing consciousness.

It has been my great privilege to have known of Christian Science all my life. Both my husband and I attended a Christian Science Sunday School when we were children, and we are now both active in church work.

For many healings received and demonstrations made through my study and application of Christian Science, I am very grateful. It is a joy for me to tell of two experiences in particular.

It is high time that I bore witness to all the help I have received from the study of Christian Science. I have been studying it since the First World War, during which, although I did not realize it, I was being protected by God through the prayerful thoughts of a relation who was a Scientist.

It was my privilege to attend a Christian Science Sunday School, and I had my first proof of God's power to heal in my early teens. I was playing baseball on the school playground when I hurt myself and fell and found I was unable to stand upright.

On the day I arrived home from the hospital for the fifth time in a year and a half, a friend dropped by and handed me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and commented that she had felt guided to introduce me to the Christ-healing through the understanding of God, which is Christian Science. I knew nothing of Christian Science; but since the doctors had just told me again that they found nothing physically wrong with me in spite of repeated attacks of such abdominal and intestinal pain as to necessitate the use of morphine, I happily considered any reasonable avenue toward relief.

Christian Science has brought such a multitude of blessings into my experience that I cannot begin to number them. Very early in my study of Science I was freed from the cigarette habit.

An unhappy childhood followed by a tragic marriage left me feeling godless, hopeless, homeless. My one treasure was my little daughter, but my superstitious fears for her made the rearing of her more painful than joyful.
