Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science has been a guiding influence in our home since I was a child. I shall always be grateful that my mother was receptive to this truth when it was presented to her by my father's relatives.

Through Christian Science I have received a developing sense of direction and purpose in my life. I feel this has been an invaluable gift, and it makes me deeply grateful for the fact that Mrs.

Since early childhood I have been blessed with Christian Science as my religion, and through the years I have received innumerable proofs of the efficacy of its healing power. During the Second World War, I was living on the outskirts of a large industrial city, and every night during the periods the city was being blitzed I experienced proofs of divine Love's protecting power.

Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a young girl, I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, only a dozen or so years ago. During the intervening years after leaving Sunday School, I married a non-Scientist, whose father was a missionary.

It has been my joyous privilege to be reared in Christian Science. I have experienced wonderful protection, guidance, and healing.

I should like to tell of the first healing I had in Science. It has been a poignant reminder that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" ( Ps.

Sometime ago I became deeply involved in a business problem which caused great dismay and threatened business failure. I realized the basic cause of this frustration was disobedience and lack of self-discipline, yet all mortal efforts to extricate myself seemed only to plunge me deeper into the mire of fearful thinking, which finally resulted in a nervous collapse.

When Christian Science was first presented to me many years ago, I was unprepared to accept its teachings; and after a cursory perusal of the textbook by Mrs. Eddy, which had been kindly loaned me, I returned it with the thought that I would be unable to gain the necessary faith.

For the past several years great inspiration and healings have come to my mother and me through the work of a consecrated practitioner, who roused both of us to a more active and dedicated study and application of Christian Science. In particular I wish to write of a healing of my mother which took place in 1962.

[Original in French] About nine years ago I was living in a very busy section of town; and because my apartment was in the middle of things, it was also very convenient to my work and to the theater and to literary meetings. But I had been interested in Christian Science for about ten years, and my former diversions lost much of their attraction for me.
