Testimonies of Healing

Before his marriage my father took up the study of Christian Science after being healed through it of a ruptured appendix. My mother also started studying it after my brother was healed of an illness that appeared so serious at one point that she feared he was passing on.

My parents are earnest students of Christian Science, and when I was still a baby, I was healed of crossed eyes. For a year my parents tried to work out the problem through their own study and prayer.

I have had so many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science that I find it difficult to single out a few to relate in one testimony. One of the healings for which I am most grateful occurred during the premature birth of our second grandchild.

When I look back over the years that I have been a student of Christian Science, it is difficult to find adequate words to express my gratitude for the many blessings and convincing proofs of its healing power I have had. I had not had much experience in practicing Christian Science when our baby son developed an eye disease.

Christian Science was first presented to my mother in 1917; and despite strong opposition within the family, she did her utmost to interest her children in its explanation of the Bible truths and the accounts therein of spiritual healing. During school years and subsequently at a university, I could not reconcile what I thought I knew of Christian Science with the apparently indisputable evidence of materialism and evil which loomed up as reality in all spheres of human existence.

On April 21, 1950, I entered a Christian Science Reading Room and purchased a King James Version of the Bible and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

In 1941 I became engaged to a naval officer who had been reared in Christian Science. I felt it my duty to look into his religion before marriage, although I never intended to change from the Protestant church I attended.

Several years ago when I was quite new in the study of Christian Science, I had an experience which has given me a great deal of inspiration and help. I had decided to build on a lot that I was unable to sell, and I chose a contractor simply from an attractive advertisement of a model home that I had noticed several times in a newspaper published in a neighboring city.

Throughout our married life my husband and I have relied on Christian Science alone for healing. Our three children have had very few so-called children's diseases.

One morning in July, 1962, I could not rise from my bed. Both the lower and upper portions of my legs were stiff, and the condition was painful to the point of preventing me from getting out of my bed.
