Testimonies of Healing

In 1930 I became interested in Christian Science. At that time I was very unhappy, for we had been told that our son, who was in a sanatorium with tuberculosis, was very ill.

My reasons for expressing gratitude for Christian Science are more than can be numbered. For the healing of sorrow and self-pity after the passing on of a loved one and for the physical healing that delivered me from the belief that I must pass on, I am especially grateful, because they led to my continued study of Christian Science, which enables me daily to work out my own salvation and to help others.

Christian Science has indeed been to me the Comforter promised by the Master, Christ Jesus. In the year 1932 I was healed of neuritis, arthritis, low blood pressure, and anemia by reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in connection with the Bible.

One Sunday afternoon I experienced very severe pains in the side of my head and nausea. A friend called a Christian Science practitioner for me, and work was taken up.

I am very grateful for God's great goodness "to the children of men" in sending Christ Jesus and later Mary Baker Eddy to help and guide us in the upward way out of matter into the realities of being. In 1911, when my mother's family of five children were small, she was reading a popular book of the time and was aroused by the thought that, as a mother with a large family, she wished she could be as interested in the Bible as she was in the novel.

The blessings which have come to me through Christian Science have been numerous. However, there are two healings I should particularly like to relate.

It is with a deep and sincere sense of gratitude to God that I write this testimony. About thirty years ago Christian Science was presented to me, and I began attending church services.

I am writing this testimony in gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, hoping it may help someone in need. My parents became interested in this Science when I was about two years of age, through the healing of a very close friend.

This testimony is given with a loving desire to glorify God and to encourage other seekers for the light. When I was almost ready to graduate from a midwestern high school, misfortune and poverty befell our home and caused my health to fail.
