Testimonies of Healing

Many times I have had great help and encouragement from reading the testimonies in our periodicals, and I hope my testimony may help someone. I was brought up in Christian Science, and the many demonstrations I have witnessed are to me normal and natural manifestations of God's infinite allness and man's perfect reflection of his Father-Mother God.

I feel that I am long overdue in expressing my gratitude to God through the periodicals for all the good that has come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. During military service I gained a greater appreciation of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

After a short period of study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I found that many undesirable traits of character and erroneous habits were overcome and a bowel and stomach disease of twenty-seven years' standing, which had been X-rayed and diagnosed as incurable by different physicians and surgeons, was completely and permanently healed. When the last doctor said that he could do no more for me, I told him that I had decided to trust God and was going to a Christian Science practitioner.

It is with abundant joy and gratitude that I testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. The healing of a young son eventually brought me into the study of this Science.

I am glad that I do not have to imagine my existence without Christian Science. My grandmother was one of the early practitioners in this state, and my mother became a student of this Science when I was a baby.

A severe illness in my infancy was believed to have left me with a stubborn case of eczema, together with nervousness, poor digestion, and a generally anemic condition. For about twenty years my parents were untiring in their efforts to employ the aid of the different schools of medicine in my behalf.

I have so much to be grateful for that I hardly know where to begin. My earliest recollections of home and childhood are the prayers at night at my mother's knee.

For many years I have been receiving the benefits that come through the study and practice of the truth as taught in Christian Science. While I was in the darkness and despair of a severe nervous breakdown, Christian Science was presented by a family friend and was accepted.

I am deeply grateful to God for Christian Science and for all it has done for me in the past ten years. When I first heard of it, I was in need of a healing of nervous debility and chronic constipation, which had failed to yield to prolonged medical treatment.

The inspiration gained from vast numbers of testimonies in our periodicals prompts me to express my deepest gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the limitless blessings of Christian Science.
