Testimonies of Healing

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke is related a beautiful scene which was enacted over nineteen hundred years ago, when the little daughter of Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, was restored to life by our blessed Master, Christ Jesus, the Way shower. How true it is that many of these so called miracles are being repeated in this age through the healing power of Christian Science.

That Christian Science heals instantaneously, completely, and permanently I am grateful to bear testimony. About twenty six years ago the statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," was proved in my experience.

Christian Science was presented to me in my girlhood at the time of my entrance into art school, by one who soon became a dear friend. I frequently spent the night at her home, and we often lay awake for many hours talking about the truth concerning God and man; and many of my questions, stemming from a great desire to know more of this Science, were answered.

All that I have of any worth I owe to Christian Science: better health, a better financial position, and a better sense of home. I have had many physical healings, though I did not seek to be healed.

It is in deep gratitude to God for Christian Science that I wish to add my testimony. This Science has been my only physician for over forty years.

It is over twenty years since I began to study Christian Science. As I think back over my progress, I feel much as some of the children of Israel must have felt when they had been led out of the land of bondage.

"' Now ,' cried the apostle, 'is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,'—meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life. " In the past twenty-seven years I have been able to prove these words from page 39 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and we have had many healings for which we are very grateful.

I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings we have received through the study of Christian Science. I am grateful for the privilege of becoming acquainted with a practitioner in 1918, when I received my first healing, an almost instantaneous one of influenza.

When our boy developed mastoiditis in both ears, he was placed under the care of an ear specialist, who tried numerous material remedies, including X-ray therapy, but the condition grew worse. The physician then informed us that an immediate operation was necessary, but he despaired of a complete healing.
