Testimonies of Healing
I wish to express my gratitude for the healing which brought me into Christian Science. When I was about ten years of age, a woman lived in our neighborhood who was a student of Christian Science.
God is Love. This thought, held to faithfully, proved to me that God does heal when we turn from all material remedies to the one and only power, God.
It has long been my desire to express loving gratitude for the spirituality and steadfastness of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in giving to the world the truth about God and man, God's law of harmony, which she has named Christian Science. This truth transformed me from a sickly, sorrowful individual to one of buoyant health and boundless joy.
In casting about for more tithes to bring into the storehouse, I remembered that I had never given thanks "in the great congregation" of readers of the Christian Science periodicals. In my early teens I sought an answer to the question, "Why is there no healing today in the manner our Master provided?" I eagerly searched for the answer, but my clerical friends could not give it.
In my sixteen years of experience in Christian Science I have had many beautiful healings. The first evidence of the power of Truth upon the body was a night of restful sleep after I had asked a Christian Science practitioner for help.
My first testimony appeared in the August 24, 1912, Sentinel . The healing recounted there has been permanent.
During the more than thirty years since Christian Science was introduced to our home, we have had many proofs of the healing and protecting power of its teaching. Early proofs of this power came to us in physical healing, of which the family was in great need.
" Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" ( Ps. 107:2 ).
The desire to tell of my appreciation and love for Christian Science has been uppermost in my thoughts for some time. I wish to begin with gratitude to God for membership in The Mother Church.
After depending on Christian Science to meet our needs, we would find it impossible to get along without it. I have applied it to almost every type of problem, and it has never failed.
