After having the joys and benefits of Christian Science for over sixteen years, I feel I should wait no longer to express my sincere gratitude for this revelation of the truth of being, which our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given to the world in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
The revelation that God is infinite Spirit, Mind, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love, and that man is a spiritual idea, forever living, moving, and having his being in God, is constantly a source of joy and inspiration to me. When I began to comprehend the explanation of the Adam-dream and the unreality of what appears to be a material universe around us, I felt that I had been blessed indeed.
We have had many wonderful experiences as a result of the study and application of Christian Science. The first outstanding demonstration occurred just a few months after I began this study. While I was doing the laundry, my hand was caught between the hard rubber rollers of a wringer and was drawn in up to the palm before I threw the lever to release the pressure. My husband, who is also deeply interested in Christian Science, was near at the time, and he realized and declared with me the truth we had been learning, that man is an incorporeal being; hence he cannot be crushed or harmed. When withdrawn, the hand was not disfigured in any way. There was a slight sense of throbbing pain, which soon vanished when we turned to the textbook, studying for a while the truth contained therein. This being our first experience, we felt we had witnessed a miracle.
