THE title of this article is the marginal heading of a paragraph beginning on page 303 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The paragraph itself elucidates the fact that God without His expression, man, would be without entity—real being—and that man's entity is his reflection of God. I once heard one Christian Scientist ask another: "Since God is All-in-all, God is the only real entity. Does that mean that man has no entity?"
"Oh, no," the other replied, "Mrs. Eddy distinctly speaks of man's entity. Man has the entity of reflection, and that to the Christian Scientist is entity indeed!"
Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid.), "God, without the image and likeness of Himself, would be a nonentity, or Mind unexpressed. He would be without a witness or proof of His own nature. Spiritual man is the image or idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor separated from its divine Principle."
