I have been wanting for some time to express my gratitude for the help which Christian Science has been to me; but there are no words that will adequately state the joy, peace, and love I have known since finding this new-old religion.
My daughter, who had been a Scientist for about a year, first told me about it. She said that just reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, might heal me of the desire to smoke, which I had had for nearly twenty-five years. I had finally decided to be free from this expensive, unclean habit if it were possible, so I was willing to try anything that might bring the desired results. I had stopped smoking twice before, once for eighteen months, but never had been free from the desire.
After I had read the book nearly through, as well as some other Science literature, the thought came to me that there must be some way to study this Science. I wrote to my daughter, and she sent me a Bible, a copy of Science and Health, and the Christian Science Quarterly. Then I started studying in earnest.
