Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my gratitude for the many benefits which have come to me through the study of Christian Science, and my deep gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. Christian Science was brought to my notice twenty-five years ago; and with the help of practitioners and friends I have had numerous healings and blessings.

During seven years of illness, everything material methods could offer was tried, including change of climate and an ocean trip, but like the woman spoken of in the Bible I "was nothing bettered. " Finally I became morbid, a burden to myself and my family.

For the past four years I have been an earnest student of Christian Science, and these four years have been crowded with blessings. I lovingly offer my testimony, and hope it will encourage beginners, as it has been proved to me that it is not necessary to be a student of long standing in order to demonstrate this truth.

Over thirty years ago Christian Science was recommended to me after doctors had diagnosed my trouble as a complication of diseases—arthritis, hardening of the arteries, and enlarged heart. For ten years I had tried a number of prominent physicians and specialists, and their prescribed treatments, but I finally became helpless and had to sit in an invalid's chair.

About twenty years ago I first saw a copy of the Sentinel. After reading one half of the first column, I declared that it was the truth and just what I had been wanting.

Many years of living in thought with sin, sickness, and death, all of which had deeply impressed themselves upon me as being real, brought about many discordant conditions of the body. Daily I had a sincere desire to be lifted out of this seeming pit in order that I might know life aright and enjoy happiness, and it was proved to me that right desire is prayer and is answered.

With deep gratitude and the desire to help others, I should like to relate some of the blessings and healings which I have both received and witnessed since taking up the study of Christian Science. I was healed of an inward goiter through the work of a practitioner, after doctors and specialists had failed to help me and had given me only a few weeks to live.

In April, 1930, a friend introduced me to Christian Science. I immediately bought and read the textbook and attended a lecture and a church service.

The understanding requisite to prove Christian Science came to me without any effort to attain material benefit. In fact, when I earnestly began to study the Bible, in conjunction with Science and Health, I was ignorant of the fact that Truth understood must change the outward seeming.

Great gratitude prompts me to testify to the good which has come to me through Christian Science. I have found that this teaching is the guide to God, and I have come to understand the Bible passage, "Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
