Testimonies of Healing
Great gratitude prompts me to testify to the good which has come to me through Christian Science. I have found that this teaching is the guide to God, and I have come to understand the Bible passage, "Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Christian Science first came to my attention about twenty years ago through the healing of a man who had been one of the leading business men of the city in which I was residing at that time, but who, on account of the drink habit, had long since ceased to give any attention to his business, his family, or his friends. When I first saw him he was tottering on the brink of ruin.
For the many blessings that Christian Science has brought to me and to my home I wish to express my sincere gratitude. Under all circumstances this truth has met our needs when rightly applied.
I desire to express gratitude for a beautiful healing which took place some years ago. I was working on the roof of a house about seventeen miles from the city.
I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I did not come into this Science for healing, but when I had read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
One afternoon, when at work in the garden, I accidentally disturbed a wasp nest and as a result was stung four or five times on the face and once on the hand. The first frantic efforts at physical defense against the attack quickly subsided before the remembered fact, learned in Christian Science, that in every human circumstance the truth is immediately available to deal with and destroy anything and everything erroneous.
I can never say how grateful I am that Christian Science was brought to me. In September, 1933, my son was lying in a hospital seriously ill with enteric fever and several complications, each one of which the doctors said was sufficient in itself to be fatal After five weeks, when I was desperate, a neighbor came to me and asked whether I would care to see a Christian Science practitioner.
The testimonies of healing published in our periodicals were such a source of strength to me during a long period of trial, that I love to tell of the wonderful healing and awakening that finally came to me, with the hope that it may assure others who are "lab'ring long and lone" (Poems by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 14 ).
Every student of Christian Science has cause to sing praise to the most High for His wonderful works made manifest through the study and application of the truths set forth in Science and Health. I turned to Christian Science for physical healing after two and a half years of continuous medical treatment for a condition which so baffled the physicians that they were talking of sending me to an out-of-town hospital for observation and treatment.
About four years ago, after one serious major operation, I was told that another one would have to be performed immediately. All that could be promised afterward was simply a regaining of consciousness.
