Testimonies of Healing

I am deeply grateful for all the good that has come to me since I took up the study of Christian Science. My wife and I began this study at the same time—another blessing for which we are both very grateful, as we have been able to help each other through many trials of faith.

It is a joyous privilege to express my gratitude for Christian Science. This truth was first presented to me when I was in great need of physical healing.

It is with sincere gratitude that I should like to tell of a healing of phlebitis which I had over a year ago. It was another opportunity calling for spiritual growth.

With the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed of a complete nervous and physical breakdown, after being confined to my bed the greater part of the time for a number of years. I had finally become so weak that I could neither sleep nor eat, and as all material methods, including an operation, had failed, I consented to try Christian Science.

Christian Science was first introduced to my family thirty years ago, but I was not ready to accept it; and although I witnessed an instantaneous healing of a serious difficulty, I looked upon it as a faith cure and a fad. I was beginning a nursing career which filled my life for a considerable period, and in my eagerness for knowledge, I took up every branch of medical surgery.

I feel that gratitude for my healing in Christian Science will not be complete until I give thanks to God, the Giver of all good, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. " Up to the time I took up the study of Christian Science I was always under a doctor's care, but there came a time when materia medica failed to meet my needs.

I am happy to tell the world how Christian Science has lifted me out of the debris of error into the realm of health, peace, happiness, assurance, and protection. Several years ago I had reached the age at which many women believe they have to go through a great ordeal.

Five years of the World War left me a nervous, morose, and temperamental wreck. To alleviate these conditions I had resorted to materia medica and to every form of worldliness, but these gave no permanent relief.

For over twenty years Christian Science has been my only physician, and during that time I have had many physical healings, some of them instantaneous, while others extended over a considerable period. Among other healings I might mention those of colds, rheumatism, bronchitis, a serious inflammation of the ear, and chapped fingertips, the last causing trouble in winter.

To experience an instantaneous healing in Christian Science, when the one healed knows almost nothing about the operation of Truth in the human consciousness, is to go through an experience not only of great joy because of physical relief, but of sudden awakening to a realization of the presence of divine power, available at all times. About twenty years ago I was healed instantaneously.
