Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science came into my life at a time of abject unhappiness and confusion. I had married as a teen-ager for many wrong reasons, and the situation was terrible.

My grandfather and two uncles were Protestant ministers. Although I did not join their church, I attended services and entered into the church's activities.

I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood. After I finished at the age of twenty, my own study at first seemed like a void.

I was raised in Christian Science, and I relied totally on God for healing during my childhood. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School until I was sixteen.

Christian Science came into my life while I was working for a major university and also studying for my doctorate in religious education. To recount the blessings that have come to me since that time would take many pages.

After I began the study of Christian Science, my life was radically transformed. In two years I joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and a little later, The Mother Church.

Early in my study of Christian Science I decided to commit a statement of substance to memory so that I would always have it with me in time of need. I turned to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

Throughout my career as an Army officer, I had lower back strain. I suffered several days each month, on the average, and I would often spend a weekend in bed to rest my back.

What would I do without Christian Science? Each time I have asked myself that question, I have recalled with much gratitude many of the healings and blessings I have had as a result of studying this Science. And I count as one of my greatest blessings, having been able to attend a Christian Science Sunday School until the age of twenty.

In the early 1900's my mother lived in a small midwestern town, where she was the only student of Christian Science. I will always be grateful for her gentle instructions and her staunch reliance on this Science.
