Testimonies of Healing
In the early 1900's my mother lived in a small midwestern town, where she was the only student of Christian Science. I will always be grateful for her gentle instructions and her staunch reliance on this Science.
My wife passed on in 1982. During our more than forty years of happy, harmonious marriage the love, compassion, and unselfishness my wife expressed had been an inspiration to me.
My previous testimony (published in the October 12, 1963, issue of the Christian Science Sentinel ) related physical healings. This time I would like to share experiences which proved to me that radical reliance on divine Mind's guidance and control always brings exactly what's needed.
Since the demonstration of Christian Science isn't so much a matter of certain "major" healings occurring in a lifetime, as of day-by-day spiritualized living, it's again time to share some of the wonderful fruitage our family has had, ".
While attending college I began dating a Christian Scientist. Warned by friends and relatives against getting involved with a Christian Scientist, I asked a professor, who was also an ordained minister, about Christian Science.
One afternoon I was jogging with one of our golden retrievers when suddenly she crossed in front of me and I fell forward on the asphalt road, cutting open my chin. Amid numerous licks of apology from the dog, I sat still and prayed.
In September 1958 my first testimony was printed in the Journal . I never dreamed that the beautiful teachings of Christian Science could continue to bless me and mine so abundantly in the more than twenty-five years since then! The spiritual growth, lovely healings of physical, business, and other types of difficulties, have continued to come about through radical reliance on God for healing as taught in Christian Science.
At one time I suffered a serious knee injury in a skiing accident. In accordance with standard procedures I was removed from the slopes and taken to a hospital.
I wish to express my gratitude for having had a home where Christian Science was a way of life even before I was born. My first expression of thanks is for my parents.
For the many individuals who have contributed to my growth in Christian Science, I would like to express my deepest gratitude. Having been raised by parents who are both Christian Scientists, I grew up in an atmosphere of deep love and joy.
