Testimonies of Healing
It is a pleasure for me to speak of what Christian Science has done for me. Three years ago I had, to material sense, a very serious illness.
While reading an article in the September Journal entitled, "The Cheerful Giver," a broad sense of giving was opened to me wherein I saw that I had not paid the tithe of testimony through our periodicals. Surely I have been abundantly blessed and should freely acknowledge the same.
Several years ago in an hour of great despair, Christian Science was presented to me by a loving member of my immediate family, who has been investigating and pondering the subject. I was immediately receptive of this blessed truth.
I wish to tell of what Christian Science has done for us, or tell what I can, for I could not begin to tell all. When I first came to this truth I had been a constant sufferer for thirteen years.
I am glad to have an opportunity to tell what Christian Science has done for me, both spiritually and physically. Four years ago I was first led to look into its teachings.
In May, 1902, I was divinely led to attend a Christian Science Wednesday evening meeting, in the hope that I might hear something of a religious nature to take my mind from mental troubles. I had readied a state of mental depression from which it seemed that I could get no relief.
I feel that it is my duty and a privilege to express my.
About four years ago, after I had tried different ways and means to be relieved from bodily suffering, a faithful friend called my attention to the teaching of Christian Science. After some opposition, I decided to investigate it, with the thought that if this teaching would he helpful, it was meant for me as well as for others; if it did not afford any help, I could put it aside again, but that I would find out and be convinced.
About a year ago I heard of Christian Science, and I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings which it has brought to me and my family. I was then suffering with an obstinate spinal disease which always caused me pain when I was working.
Mine is another story of the power of infinite Love which maketh free, and this freedom our heavenly Father is ever bestowing upon His Children, upon all those who seek Him truly. It was not physical healing, which brought me into Christian Science, but a dissatisfaction with the old orthodox teaching, a strong desire and striving for something better, higher, more logical and tangible.
