Testimonies of Healing

After 1970, I found myself time and again seriously ill with a chronic kidney ailment, asthma, pulmonary emphysema, and all kinds of allergies. I also had chronic back and hip pain.

I was raised in a family of Christian Scientists and had daily contact with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The summer I was sixteen, I listened to a recording of the book while I sewed.

My life has been wonderfully blessed by the study of Christian Science. Healings experienced include those of physical problems, employment and supply challenges, human relationship difficulties, and protection from accidents.

Six months into my first job out of college, the man who had hired me passed on. I was left to my own resources, with little business savvy, undeveloped skills, and no supervisor.

One evening our preschooler went to a birthday party at a children's entertainment center where kids climb, slide, and swing. Some children, however, were running wildly through the play area, and a bigger boy slammed into our son, throwing him hard to the floor.

I was given the opportunity to attend a Christian Science Sunday School when I was about seven years of age. At fourteen, I was to experience a great change in my life.

I found myself feeling uncertain and stymied in my employment, and I would like to relate with much gratitude how the teachings of Christian Science helped me to find a fully satisfying employment situation. Some years ago, I felt that I had advanced as far as I could in the work I was then doing as part of a large corporation.

During my early apprenticeship in Christian Science, I had this revelation: if I react to the appearance of evil in any way, then I admit its reality, I make it real. What is needed, regardless of circumstance, is a Christianly scientific response.

" Never born and never dying, it were impossible for man, under the government of God in eternal Science, to fall from his high estate" ( Science and Health , p. 258 ).

Christian Science has been my mainstay since I was a young teenager. It has guided me, protected me, healed me, and brought me joy more times than I can number.
