Testimonies of Healing

After having experienced decades of healings and protection through prayer and God's never-ending love, it's time for me to express my gratitude to God, as well as for the teachings of Jesus Christ and the bountiful wisdom within the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Through study of the Bible and Science and Health, my children and I have been healed of colds, influenza, measles, chickenpox, and tonsillitis, as well as other ailments.

I am deeply grateful to Christian Science. Because of what I have learned from it, my only purpose and ambition in life is to become more and more conscious of my status, and that of everyone, as God's perfect man.

When I was twelve years old, a dramatic healing of a plantar wart on my foot was the result of my beginning to rely on prayer for healing. I had hobbled around for about two weeks in discomfort with the wart.

As the author learned more about “God's magnificence,” she was healed of immobilizing back pain, a broken ankle bone, and found a lovely place to live.

Several years ago I woke with what would be called an organic disorder. The pain was so severe I could hardly think.

In November of 1992 I had developed a rash on my face. Since I had to be at the university to finish the last weeks of the semester, I spent the entire week of the Thanksgiving break reading from Science and Health.

At a recent Wednesday evening testimony meeting, the story of Eutychus (see Acts 20:7-12) reminded me of a healing in our family when one of our sons was in high school. He and a friend had decided to work that summer in a small town in Colorado where they were employed by a friend of ours in the construction business.

Recently , while taking Primary class instruction in Christian Science, I woke with an overwhelming feeling of pressure in my head, resulting in fatigue and loss of clarity. I proceeded with considerable effort to class that day, all the while attempting to recall and apply the truths that were already becoming clearer and more tangible to me just a few days into the class experience.

I began to pray when I noticed that it seemed to be more and more difficult for me to get up and to stand. Eventually, it was necessary for me to stay in bed, as I was unable to stand and was experiencing great pain.

Our family came into Christian Science through a healing my grandmother's sister experienced as a young woman. She was being treated by a medical doctor for a nervous condition, and as she did not improve, he suggested she see a Christian Science practitioner.
