Testimonies of Healing

A few years ago our family went on a long boat trip. I had been looking forward to it, but I was also apprehensive because I feared motion sickness.

When this author addressed the resentment they’d been feeling, they found that they were healed of painful physical symptoms.

I wanted an all-natural home birth for my second child. I’d had a negative experience in the hospital with my first child, and since that time, I had grown tremendously in my faith and reliance on God.

At the time of this healing, my wife and I were raising three children and had experienced many instances of healing through prayer for ourselves and our children. One Sunday morning at the end of our church service, I went down to the Sunday School, which was located in the basement of the church, to pick up our children.

I was on a long-anticipated tour of Egypt with a group of fellow Christian Scientists. While waiting for the tour bus, I fell off an unseen curb, stumbled, and slammed into a wall.

One balmy summer day over three years ago, I went out onto a rock pile behind my house to admire the late afternoon. While all was going smoothly in my personal life, I didn’t feel I was growing spiritually, and I wondered, “Is this all there is for me? Have I no higher purpose?” As I stepped down, a large rock suddenly gave way beneath me, and I fell.

One morning I checked my young daughter’s permanent teeth that were just growing in and noticed that a top front tooth was coming in horizontally instead of pointing downward. It was clear that in addition to looking deformed, the tooth would be unable to bite food normally.

Christian Science has taught me the importance of being constantly alert about what I accept into my thought. This statement in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has been an important guide to me: “Watch, and pray daily that evil suggestions, in whatever guise, take no root in your thought nor bear fruit” ( p.
