Testimonies of Healing
This passage from Psalms came to me when I reached out to God at a time when I wasn’t sure if I would live: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord” ( 118:17 ). It was the summer of 2005, and I was losing the ability to grasp objects and experiencing trouble walking.
The author experienced healing as she recognized her identity as the perfect and unchanging daughter of God.
The joy I was experiencing could not be contained! It was springtime, and my husband and I were driving through the countryside. I had enjoyed the area’s scenery before, but now, it was as though I were seeing it for the first time.
This author prayed when she felt fear creep in one night. Her prayers defused a scary situation.
As I started to rise from a sitting position, I felt an excruciating pain in my lower back and almost collapsed on the floor. Sheer human willpower got me to the bed in my hotel room to lie down.
Many years ago , I was asked to take on the duties of Second Reader at my Christian Science Society, but for as long as I could remember any activity that required speaking in public had been fraught with anxiety for me. Even as a child, something as simple as talking to a store clerk or responding to a teacher’s question had been difficult.
For many years , I was aware of a hard growth below the surface of the skin of my thigh. It didn’t really bother me, except that some believed it could turn into a serious problem at some point.
One Wednesday evening several years ago, I gave a testimony at my local Christian Science branch church. I discussed how our thought can be healed about the past and thus painful memories can be eliminated and stop reoccurring in our thoughts.
This author thought that maybe with time, she would be healed. When she shifted her thinking to a more spiritual view of herself, she was healed.
The author recognized that he had to stop ruminating on problems and fully turn his thought to God, good.
