Testimonies of Healing
For many years I suffered ill health, loneliness, and utter misery, and feared becoming incapable of earning a living. A nervous breakdown made me pray desperately to God for help.
My testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel of August 26, 1944. Since then, so many blessings and healings have come to me.
When I first learned of Christian Science more than thirty years ago, I was a hopeless sufferer. My illness was diagnosed as neurosis of the heart, and I was given little hope for a complete recovery.
It is with deep gratitude that I wish to verify my daughter's testimony. When she was praying for healing of what appeared to be a condition of internal growth, she remained steadfast in Truth and silenced fear with the assurance of God's healing presence.
My life has been blessed by the study and practice of Christian Science. In the Sunday School I learned how to apply the teachings of Christian Science to all my work at school, to my relations with people, to my career in the arts, and how and why to uphold a high moral standard at all times.
I witnessed the unfoldment attested by my mother in her testimony. Through this demonstration not only she benefited, but also the family.
When I was a child, I could not understand why Jacob refused to let the angel go after struggling with him all night. After becoming a student of Christian Science I found my answer.
My testimony of healing for the Christian Science periodicals is long overdue. I was raised in a Christian Science home, attended the Sunday School until I was twenty, and witnessed many wonderful healing experiences during those years.
I am grateful to be able to affirm that Christian Science heals disease. For some weeks during the spring and summer of 1970, I was plagued by a surprising number and variety of ailments.
The Word of God in the Scripture, whose spiritual meaning is revealed in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, is the true healer of all human ills. A kind friend lent a copy of Science and Health to my father when he was in bed suffering from one of his attacks of recurring malarial fever.
