Testimonies of Healing
Each time I hear from the desk of a Christian Science church the announcement concerning applications for church membership I feel a deep sense of gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and the several branch churches in which I have had membership at different times. Particularly so because it was several years after the desire came to affiliate with the movement established by Mrs.
This healing took place in 1962, when I had first arrived in New England to help my daughter care for a young son. Being a newcomer, I knew little about weather conditions, but after a whole day of rain we set out to attend a lecture in The Mother Church.
In the year 1919, I was having mental trouble, and my sister had taken me to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, several times to hear the reading of the Lesson-Sermon. I could not sit through the Sunday service in the church of which I was a member, nor could I be with people any length of time without spells of crying.
Three healings through Christian Science treatment are outstanding in my experience. The first occurred when I was of preschool age.
In the March, 1967, issue of the French Edition of The Herald of Christian Science appeared a testimony in which I expressed deep gratitude for the blessings I had received through the application of this Science of Christ, revealed by Mrs. Eddy.
Christian Science came into my life in July, 1969, when I took hold of a Christian Science Journal given to my wife by her co-employee. A perusal of that magazine sent me searching for the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in Manila the next day with a burning curiosity to know more of this religion which stressed man as the image and reflection of God, hence harmonious, immortal, and perfect.
It is with much gratitude that I give testimony to God's omnipotent care for His children. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a child and, in young adulthood, church services, but I did not apply Christian Science to my daily life.
For many years my family and I have enjoyed the blessings of Christian Science, and it is with much gratitude that I write this testimony. Although my husband had attended a Christian Science Sunday School and I had attended the Sunday School of another denomination, at the time of our marriage we were not interested in going to either church regularly.
About nine years ago I began to have great discomfort internally. I kept very close to my study of Christian Science, and the peace, comfort, and strength of the Christ were ever with me.
"In him we live, and move, and have our being" ( Acts 17:28 ). These words of Paul's in the Bible were a source of comfort to my wife about two years ago when she was informed I had been critically injured in an automobile accident.
