As a young teen-ager I had many misgivings regarding religion. My father, widely read on the subject, told me the only religion he knew which would answer my questions satisfactorily was Christian Science. I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School and found the logic of Christian Science quite enthralling.
At the time, I was suffering from a skin disease that had defied skin specialists for years. After a few weeks in Sunday School I received notification from a London hospital that a bed was available for me. I decided against going into hospital and made my first contact with a Christian Science practitioner requesting treatment. In a few days I was healed. Since that time I have never ceased to be grateful for the healing Christ expressed through the unselfed lives of these workers.
Some years later while working out a number of problems with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, who perhaps sensed an apparent lack in my makeup, I was astounded one day to have her ask me if I would like to be married. To this I answered an unhesitating and emphatic No. With many difficulties to resolve, I was certainly most reluctant to give any thought to marriage. Self-will as to my own life-style continued its strong resistance for quite a while, but after about a year I was happily married to a sincere student of Christian Science for whose companionship and support I shall always be grateful.
