When Christ Jesus healed the sick, he went straight to the mental cause of the trouble and corrected that. He knew that all diseased conditions were externalized pictures of disturbed thought, figments of the human mind, and he destroyed them with the healing balm of spiritual Truth.
Speaking of Jesus' method, Mrs. Eddy writes, "When, through Mind, he restored sight to the blind, he figuratively and literally spat upon matter; and, anointing the wounded spirit with the great truth that God is All, he demonstrated the healing power and supremacy of the law of Life and Love." How often the abrasive contacts and events of day-to-day living wound the human spirit, or mind! And how important to understand the close relationship between these mental wounds and physical weariness and disease—and even more importantly how they are destroyed by the restorative power of God when it is scientifically understood and applied.
