Testimonies of Healing

From the January 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The opening words in the Preface to the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, found fulfillment in my experience in the truest sense: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."

When I experienced my first healing in Christian Science over thirty-five years ago, these words helped me elevate myself above my sickly condition. Two doctors, suspecting a serious internal condition, ordered an immediate operation, otherwise I was given but one more hour to live. The doctors called for an ambulance, and at the hospital preparations were begun at once for the operation.

Since I had once heard of a healing through Christian Science, I asked for treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. Because she was not at home, she could be informed of the case only in a roundabout way. The practitioner had an acquaintance convey to me the above passage from the Christian Science textbook. This sentence gave me so much confidence in God that I arrived at the hospital well. The doctors were standing at the door and did not believe their eyes when they saw me sitting on the stretcher and laughing. Ten minutes earlier I was cold and stiff, but now there was color in my face again.
